We strongly support the reconciliation of our history and the truth telling that is necessary for us all to feel proud to be Australian. Our family history reinforces how important this is for us all to feel we belong together. Australia is our home . Jacki was born in Liverpool, UK and immigrated when she was 6 . Australia has a diverse culture and landscape. Its diversity of cultures has come from immigrants coming together to work hard to make a better life and country. In 1999 Jacki's family celebrated 30 years in Australia with a spot on the Welcome Wall in Darling Harbour.
However it is important for us to recognise the richness of the culture of the First Peoples.
Through Michael' s embracing of his Aboriginal heritage when he felt is was safe to do so has helped all be more aware of the history and the importance of the ongoing connection for Aboriginal people . It is more than "Country" but the shared values, traditions, history that connects.
With overseas travel restricted due to Covid-19 we plan to invest more time exploring our beautiful country and the richness of our culture and landscape.
